This image was ripped from the collector's edition art book. as you can see, I have about 4 sets of ratios because all of her images do not add up, there is a 52% to about 82% sword / height ratio which is just ridiculous ;~;
I don't recommend you guys using the ratios, but the first row of numbers are pretty accurate as a flat-view scaling. This project will take a while since my goal is to make it transformable~
*update with gun form model (3 parts missing), appearing/disappearing parts is going to make this a real challenge xP
*update 2.0 DISREGARD EVERYTHING BEFORE! I have been playing around with free transform in Photoshop and I have found out ALL the reference pics are wrong! Square Enix can kiss my sweet cheeks, why? The Little Cosplay Things #855 : not finding good references so you go and make your own. I took about 7 different pictures and manipulated all the good stuff out of them and made a physically transformable gunblade! updated with the sword and gun form! It was a pain finding the joints... atm I am stuck with this project and fixing up my Noel cosplay so I will try my best to do everything asap
please leave comments! I will be working on Noel and Lightning's weapons for the upcoming year (maybe even Serah's bowblade)
Thanks for the images! I would like to make a functional gunblade of this type one day for my friend's cosplay, however -- the transformation sequence with the chain / gears are very complex. Thanks for this analysis. You'd think that the officially released final art would be better thought out than this.
no problem, I feared that the artwork would just be an artistic sketch and it turns out it was true... this is probably the most complex weapon just because of the size of some pieces and how it collapses and entends
the whole sword form from tip to pommel is about 48 inches for a 5'3 lightning so the blade along the x axis is roughly 32.5inches, it is best to ratio to a person's height
sorry, but atm I'm a little busy to editing photos and making my Noel cosplay for April, after mid-April I will focus on this project again. It is simple math, just download this image and blow up the image from 48 inches for a 5'3 Lightning into 51.05 inches for a 5'7 Lightning
Sorry about about what i said about it being claymore length, I mistake the full length for the measuremnt of the blade. Tip to pommel, it's still broadsword length
